I broke my 3 year Amazon boycott to buy this so I thought it must be pretty good and it was! Before I start the actual review, here's a tip. For using cheaper suction cups like these, as I've seen some people struggle with this: Hold a small plate of water nearby and dip your finger in the water to rotate the inside of each cup before you stick it on. Slightly wet cups hold up much better. The terrarium itself is sturdy and I like the latches on the door and lid and the pull out lids for the wire inserts on top. The screen part of the lid is too small for two lamps, but I can't handle it. There's not enough dirt in this kit for a decent body. I used an eco soil block that was maybe 3-4 times larger than what they include here for my fence and I would suggest you do the same. If you have an animal that never digs and doesn't plan on digging or planting anything, it may do the trick, but usually the substrate layer should come up about an inch below the bottom of the door. found the hammock and vine to be too large for a terrarium of this size. The hammock was so big that I ruled it out entirely as nothing else would fit when set up as it should. I trimmed the vine shorter with scissors so that wasn't a problem, and I suggest that if you plan on using the vine as your only source of climbing, the longer the better. Appreciated the vine end caps as well as any suction cups and other mounts they came with which made positioning very easy. The ivy is also a nice touch to add interest and greenery to the vine! As for the functional elements, everything looks good. The thermometer's temperature seems to go up a few degrees, which is normal as I have a case thermostat, but the hydrometer seems good enough to rely on. I also really like the food bowl, it's a good size and very well attached. The background is really beautiful and durable. I found that there is a small gap between the top of the backdrop and the top of the case so I just applied a little dirt before installing and then it fits snugly without any glue. In summary, this is a good kit. for the money, although they could do better. You will most likely have to buy your own mud instead of what comes with the kit and some of the items are the wrong size, but you can easily convert this into a quality home for your critters.
