The screen was initially disappointing as many pointed out with a white tint surrounding the screen, but I noticed that the tint disappeared as I flipped my switch, so I dug deeper and experimented a bit and found that HDR works on macOS is enabled by default for an external monitor and that HDR adds a white tint around the screen. Once it's off, the image quality gets better (there can still be a slight white cast, but it's much better) and really shows fantastic color depth. You can keep the emulated HDR you set using the monitor buttons, but you must turn off HDR in the macOS display settings.
