If you're looking for a tool for a small project and don't want to invest in a tool that won't be used often, this will work. I've used it on about 70 steel rivets with a maximum tool size of 5/16". 1) As other reviewers point out, the instructions for changing the mandrels are not clear. Removing the anvil goes without saying. To remove the threaded tongue, slide the anti-slip guard down to reveal the nut on the tongue Do not over tighten - the anti-slip guard will prevent the tongue from rotating 2) Levers are not solid - more like sheet metal used for reinforcement a channel shape is bent.My hands shook restlessly when I applied the force required to install the 5/16 steel rivets. Also due to poor tolerances the levers move unevenly so the levers are not in the same position when they are fully compressed. These two factors made it difficult to maintain a vertical position when compressed, a problem when riveting sheet metal as the metal moves slightly deformed. So the best advice is to work slowly and use a two stage compression stroke for larger diameter nuts. 3) Although the fittings and tool holder move easily, I have found that lubricating all parts improves performance under pressure. This tool is clearly not intended for professional use. But it was enough for my highest rated DIY project with steel rivets. Its performance should be even better with smaller rivet diameters.
