Review on 12-Pack of 16 oz Amber Glass Beer Bottles for Home Brewing with Flip Caps by Leslie Wilcox

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I don't think 10 out of 12 is bad.

Upon my initial inspection, it was discovered that one of the stems fell out of the bottle when it was capped. I squeezed it in a vise a little, and then, with the help of pliers, twisted the ends of the wire so that they entered the recesses in the bottle at a slight upward angle. Now it stays in place when closed, but I don't know if it should be trusted to carbonize. Another bottle had a morsel of something stuck deep in the glass. Not sure if it will withstand pressure (during conditioning of homebrews in bottles) or pasteurization (which I do prior to long-term storage). I may have to find another use for these bottles. None of the others have an obvious flaw. No stress cracks, no excessively sharp edges. Just a few tiny bubbles in a few and streaks that remind me of antique window glass. There are no marks on the bottom of the bottles (not too bad). It's just a number. The caps are plastic (which, unlike ceramic caps, will not crack or break if dropped). They have full face silicone seals (so there is no leakage between seal and cap). The metal parts feel as solid as any other flip top bottle. They were individually wrapped in bubble wrap, which seems like an exaggeration, but none of them were broken, so I think it worked. I was expecting better quality glass at $2.75 a pint (I can buy practically the same bottles of beer for it), but they really aren't terrible. I will update this review as soon as they are used.
