The version without the film seems to be well reviewed so I'm sure it could be a lot better. I hit the side of the foil with a small butane torch (which is MUCH over heating specs) and there was very little heat transfer. The foam will burn, but it goes out badly and quickly on its own. The backing is very sticky so I'm confident it will stay in place if the surface is properly prepared. It was still sticky near the edge where I burned it, so the glue itself seems to have some heat resistance. improve both. Will let you know when a (labor intensive) project is complete if it doesn't live up to expectations. For now, all signs are encouraging.
