Review on ACDelco GM 12679100 VVT Solenoid Kit: Exhaust Variable Valve Timing with Seal, Retainer, and Bolt by Michael Gonzales

Only buy OEM VVT Solenoids!

This review is for a 2013 Equinox. I urge you to avoid spare parts! I originally bought a variable timing (VVT) intake and exhaust valve solenoid as a spare for about $30. Immediately after installation, when I started my car, it rumbled and died. So I checked the resistance and it was fine. I then ordered ACDelco (GM) OEM parts (intake and exhaust) and they worked great, my error went away. Resistance tested at 12 on both new parts. This is the difference between cheap aftermarket parts and expensive OEM parts. OEM works. The resistance of the old solenoids was 12 (inlet) and the outlet didn't show at all. He was dead. I replaced the inlet as recommended and the outlet for obvious reasons. My final recommendation is to keep the oil clean. Change it often because it clogs the VVT solenoids.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not bad
