Removed old Qest connector, sanded pipe, wiped with a rag and dressed the pup. Presto, done. No leaks. On the outlet side I again added an adapter to the 1/4" shark bite (with a special T in between - otherwise I would have just bought a shark to shark bite valve) and made my own sink faucet cut to length. Again very easy no leaks and just the right length so it doesn't kink or pull on the connection like most standard length hoses do. Three times more likely than metal compression fittings (although there's no indication I'd have to.) A little more expensive than other types, but worth it for a snack on something that will be around my house for years. .
