i don't know why i came up with this but i told my wife how to eat rice potato. My grandma had one and she cooked fried potatoes for me. I liked them so much that she gave them to my mom to take home. I used it all the time growing up. I haven't seen or heard from him since then. I told my wife about it and saw it on Amazon. she had never heard of one and was skeptical. After watching it, she thought it was really cool. I remember the old ones had holes on the sides and the potatoes would fly out. This one with holes only on the bottom is very neat and clean. It's plastic, but let me tell you, it's durable. it looks like it will have a long life. very ergonomic handles. I remember the old one was hard to push. With gear mechanism, it's really easy to use. I am 60 years old and the taste of potatoes took me back to my childhood. It washes out very well, which is important to me. bad to use it regularly. I highly recommend this model. I'm glad I chose this one. arrived in good condition in one day.
