So I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) that I wanted to connect to a 65" LG 4K TV. I performed the necessary hack to remove the clock limit. However, all active Mini DisplayPort HDMI cables I've tried either didn't transfer video cleanly or didn't let audio through. This was the first and only adapter I tried and it did both well. It was also the most expensive, but definitely worth it. Do yourself a favor and just buy this adapter if you're trying to connect a 4K TV to your Mac. That works best.
