Review on ๐Ÿ›ผ Retro Quad Design Roller Skates - Skate Gear for Optimal Performance by Wayne Burkett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

They work on sidewalks and asphalt.

I've read so many reviews of outdoor and indoor skates that my head is spinning. I wanted to find a pair of skates that would work on regular surfaces. Most people have used them indoors or on very slick pavement at skate parks. I'm cheap and want to use them on streets/sidewalks in my area that are 'free'. After much searching, I decided to order these because a video review showed them being used outside on traditional sidewalks and because they were one of the few that were true Prime delivery. When they arrived I was glad that at 52 I could still ride a little bit without crashing. What I remembered from my childhood, the soft rustle of my skates, however, wasn't what happened. These skates barely rolled and I worked harder than I could remember to get ahead. After riding a block, half a mile in it, and reading more about skates, I decided that new wheels were the answer to the problem. However, wheels are more expensive than skates. So I searched more for Revain and finally found the perfect pair. I sent them back and ordered a new pair. A few hours later, I realized the "new" pair was just another pair of them. Well I have to admit if these skates were so perfect in the description then why weren't they perfect in reality? So I went back to the internet. I learned that I have to spin the wheels! When I sat down and just turned each wheel with my finger, most were tightened, but ALL were tightened differently. So I explained why they were so perfect in the description but not so when I used them. The wheels didn't turn, and the few that did couldn't make it on their own. So I took the wrench. Tighten them all equally and then loosen them all to the point where the wheel was still turning a bit when I counted to 1008. Now these skates really move me and I enjoy it. I didn't give them 5 stars because while they are great, I would have liked a little more cushioning on the tongue and pushed them all the way to the top. . I can't tie the stake to the last clasp because the tongue would cut into my leg. A little padding would help a lot. The same applies to the inner shoe, more cushioning would be better. However these skates deserve 4 stars because they are absolutely gorgeous outdoors if you take the time to check the wheels when you receive them and then adjust them so they all roll freely.
