Review on Technika Quick Release Martingale Dog Collar by Canine Equipment by Jennifer Bondy

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overall this is a pretty good collar

Overall this is a pretty good collar. I bought this for our 16lb Boston Terrier, size X-Small. It is bright red in color with a silky texture and looks much nicer than the picture. All seams are covered or on the outside to prevent chafing/bulging. It's also very handy to have a quick release buckle, our previous martingale collar didn't have one because our trainer told us they usually break, but our dog is too small to break and his other collar without a martingale buckle never broke , so we decided everything should be fine, and it is. I gave this collar a 4 because firstly it has a large black and blue company tag sewn on so that it takes up most of the red band (not visible in the product image as it is the furthest away). ). It doesn't really matter, but I thought the label could be smaller so as not to hide the beautiful red color. Also, the sizing is really misleading. It says X-small sizes are 8 to 12 inches, which I believe means the dog's neck circumference. However, this is just the length of the fabric collar without the chain. If you add the chain, it will be larger than these measurements. Our dog's neck is 12 inches and the collar cannot be tightened (it is designed to be as short as possible). It suits us (albeit a bit loose for my taste) but probably not suitable for a dog with a thinner neck because then it will be difficult to get a noticeable corrective pulling effect when the dog pulls. I would say 12 inches is probably the minimum neck size this collar will fit. In general, I would like to point out that if you want to use this collar and want it to work properly, you should consult a trainer who will teach you how to do it. how to use it properly to correct your dog and stop the pulling habit. Our dog was trained with a martingale collar so this collar will work for him. The idea is not to overtighten and choke your dog. learns that when she pulls, the chain begins to tighten and her links make clicking noises. Our trainer told us to stop after three clicks and wait for the dog to take a step back to sag a little. After a while the dog remembers and knows the clicking sounds and stops pulling when I hear them before the chain tightens any further. This might be a confusing description, but my point is that the collar itself will not teach your dog not to pull :)
