VERY easy to put on - three velcro straps and you're good to go. I just hope nobody decides to take a pannier and walk with it when my bike is locked, so I hesitate to take it with me when I go somewhere. The bag has a mesh pocket. the side of the bag, but it's small and dense - so a small coffee can fits in at best; a little higher and it will probably show up. This is definitely not the type of bag you want to use as a water bottle holder. The clear pocket on the top is easy to put a phone in and dangles a little if you don't have a big phone; You can touch the screen lightly. However, there is nothing to secure the side of the case (Velcro, straps, etc) so I don't trust my phone won't fall out on a bumpy road. A few things - keys, phone etc - are *in* the pocket, but the outer mesh pocket is pretty much useless, and like I said I wouldn't trust the top pocket to keep the phone securely in place. Until I decided to go or not.
