Many people do not like these collars and say they are inhumane. It is inhumane when large dogs are not exercised because their owners are not physically able to do so. I bought this as a last resort as I have many sports injuries which make it difficult/painful for me to walk my enthusiastic 70lb dog. I tried this collar on my arm to see if the prongs hurt or if it would sting - honestly it didn't hurt but it was a little uncomfortable. I love my dog like family and would NEVER hurt her. The collar isn't perfect because I'm sure it's not the most comfortable option BUT for my dog it means I can physically exercise him so that's good. In an ideal world, dogs wouldn't need leashes or collars and everyone would get along just fine. But not everything is perfect. We do what we can. My dog is a life saver - she could be dead now or worse. Instead, she has a happy home and is loved deeply, even if the people who love her are too far apart to control with a regular collar.
