No suction as not designed or intended for it. However, it is bolted to the dashboard and is very durable. I added this to a 2014 Ram 1500. It hits squarely in a spot that's not that useful anyway, so you don't give up a cup holder, window or vent space. I tried AutoZone's expensive suction cup type and ended up returning it. All of these guys will eventually fall off. This one will not fall. I'm using it on an iPhone SE2 which is the same size as an iPhone 7 and 6. I don't know much about Android phones but I'm 99% sure any iPhone can take it. It opens and closes with springs, and you can put it sideways if you want. You can charge your phone while it's there. I am very satisfied with this device. It's very adjustable and doesn't rattle or wobble. I highly recommend it if you have a Dodge Ram with room for it.
