Not recommended if you need shock absorption in the event of a fall. I personally liked this one very much. I was looking more for something that can protect the exterior from scratches but still enjoy the art on the back and keep the cons of joy safe. (I have the Animal Crossing version). If dropped, it wouldn't offer much protection. That's why I didn't give it five stars (I handle the console very carefully and don't carry it much unless it's in a carrying case). It's not a heavy case, but it's ok for me. If you just want to protect the looks but still be able to see the back and colors, this works great and is amazing. I really wanted a clear hard case with glitter and it was. The glitter was important, the glitter (silver) was noticeable but not distracting. One thing to note and bear in mind that with the silicone sleeve on the joysticks they don't fit into the joystick grip (but that was fine with me because I have a second pair of joysticks that I use with this one). The parts beyond the joy seem difficult to remove, so it's not always easy to take off and put on. The part that snaps onto the back of the screen comes off easily.
