I have two Genies from the litter, Plus and XL. i like them both I use the smaller one near the third tray and this XL near the two trays in the laundry room. It does well in higher traffic areas. Less hassle if you have multiple cats. I waited to browse until I had to take my bag off. I've seen other reviewers complain about the "lip" inside so I wanted to be able to pull out a full bag before writing a review. I see that there is a lip - it really exists, but it didn't cause me any problems. I let the spirit feed. Note that I relied on the shovels to enter the chamber freely, and I never did anything to get them inside. I didn't push, I didn't ram, I didn't trample, I didn't shake the gin. I just pulled the lever and let it fall freely. When my scoop didn't completely empty the chamber, I checked and sure enough, the bag was almost full, so I emptied it. It came out with no problems. Maybe I'm lucky? However. He handled a lot of poop and never smelled it. It was cozy and tidy. It looks good. It was easy to clean and restart. Win! As a side note, I put a hand on the top when pulling the latch/hatch so opening it was never a problem. Even when it floats it doesn't give off a stink or anything, so I don't think it would make much of a difference. It is totally worth the investment. I'm very glad I got it!
