As a passive (ie without direct power supply) this volume control (Little Bear MC2) does the expected job. If you look through the clear top, you'll see that this isn't complicated gear, but it's worth it; and looks very elegant like a small gear wheel (15 x 7 cm in size). And what exactly is it for? Unfortunately, my phono preamp (Parasound Zphone) does not have a volume control, and the volume control on the amp (Parasound Halo-21) is difficult to reach (located on the back of the amp). Then this little volume control comes in handy (Playback --(via VCR) --> Phono preamp --(via VCR) --> Volume control --(via VCR) --> Selector switch -- (via XLR) -> Amplifier) . If there's anything to complain about, it's that the volume control has to be turned at least 90 degrees for the sound to be real.* Of course, the little bear is out of the question for digital music playback. on my system since the volume is controlled by the DAC (--(via XLR)--> switch--(via XLR)--> amplifier).
