Three Star Video - Five Star Price - Very Good Aftersales Service

-- Video Review ReviewAcceptable. Excellent price. Very good customer service response. In line with expectations. Recommended: Update #1. You have to be honest here. If you expect this kind of video quality from a normal smartphone, you will be very disappointed. It's a cheap, expensive product with so-so video quality, although the video is more than up to the task; Watch the back of your car or RV. I can't compare it to other RV backup camera systems, but at 1/3 the manufacturer's recommended camera system for those that are pre-wired, this camera system is a steal. As originally noted, the windshield mount was not included. There was also some "flickering" of the video while driving, apparently due to poor reception. Emailed seller and both mount and remote antenna were promptly provided. Good customer service. A new windshield mount has improved the monitor mount. I recommend using a dash to keep most of the weight off of it. Placing the remote antenna greatly improved reception. The display's frame rate still has some flickering, but the video doesn't freeze. No flickering was noticeable at low speed and when reversing. At highway speeds, this is only noticeable when watching video from behind; slightly distracting at worst. For those installing this camera system with the F*****n mount pre-installed, problems with the trailer brakes and brake controls may occur. When the camera is on, the trailer brakes can be applied. I emphasize that this is not due to the camera, but to the wiring of your trailer. This problem has been repeatedly documented by brake control manufacturers. If your RV is having this issue, it can be fixed by connecting the camera directly to the RV battery (use the power switch) rather than the trailer lights. The problem with the brakes locking has disappeared. For those of you who are tech savvy, the problem lies in the tail/brake lights ground wiring, which is common. This situation is unlikely to be present in all RVs. But as I said, this isn't a problem with the camera system or your brake control unit, it's simply a problem with the trailer wiring. The only remaining "situation" mentioned is that the video monitor sometimes fails to connect to the camera. A connection was always established when the monitor was switched off. At the moment there was not a single disconnection. This is not an obstacle to the show, just a footnote. Initial ReviewBench tests show that the camera connects to the monitor quickly. The image quality, while not exceptional, is sufficient for the task of controlling backups and extending them to the rear-view mirrors. It was disappointing that the kit did not include a windshield mount and F****n mount adapter. It appears to be a free upgrade that requires email for customer support. There are also some concerns about the communication distance between the monitor and the camera. The 40 foot distance between the F*****n mount on my van and the windshield seems to be the limit of a standard antenna as documented by other users. Again a free update that requires emailing customer support. If actual installation and operation remain as simple as dyno testing, and documented free updates are available, this could be a great value upgrade. Check for updates as my installation progresses.
