Review on ๐Ÿš— Dorman 911-631 Vapor Canister: A Reliable Solution for Pontiac & Toyota Models by Alex Maynard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits/works perfectly! But READ BELOW 1.

We had P0442 (small leak) and P0456 (very small leak) on my friend's 2004 Toyota Matrix 2WD (#wd uses a different block). We tried the usual (new gas cap, changed hoses, new clamps and even new solenoids). The smoke test showed no leaks. we were in a rut! I tried it with a used canister from a broken down car. Same problem. Bought finally given up. CORRECTED! Older devices probably had defective membranes in the valves. This part cost half the cost of Toyota (same as the Pontiac Vibe of the same years). Dorman has a long history of identifying common vehicle problems and developing cost-effective solutions that only replace the defective part, not the entire assembly sold by the vehicle manufacturer. BE CAREFUL as the two hoses on this hose are the same size and properly connected. side by side. Mixing them will give you a PURGE FLOW error code. MARK THEM BEFORE REMOVE! Before you spend any money on it, make sure it's not something else. For example the tank cap. Clearing the codes requires the vehicle to run its tests and EVAP can take some time. Make sure the tank is about 3/4 full, start the engine COLD and let it warm up for about 3 minutes. Then bring the RPM to 3000 for about 20-30 seconds, then go. It may take 15-45 minutes to complete the EVAP test.
