Before I read this, I repeat this warning: if you are considering buying a discontinued/limited edition PS4 controller, you risk buying a used one. Many people report receiving fakes. The new one is the safer option, although I've checked to make sure mine is genuine. I needed a new PS4 controller as well as a new PC gamepad. I liked the look of this model the most and I'm also a fan of limited editions. My current PS4 controller, also a limited edition, has worn out and I want to discard it while it still basically works. I bought this controller brand new and am happy to report that it looks and feels totally authentic. I tested this by playing a fast-paced game for a while where keypress timing is critical. On first use I noticed how worn my previous controller was. The buttons on this one are solid and responsive. Can't comment on durability or long-term reliability yet, but so far the controller is working great. If I encounter any problems I will try to remember to update this review. (I had too much fun writing the next part. TL;DR, the controller looks great.) But if you're considering a more expensive, limited edition, then you're probably interested in looks and not just functionality. This one doesn't disappoint. Unlike most of his peers, he doesn't shy away from color saturation down to matte levels, nor does he sport flashy, flashy colors that would be the envy of both Nerf and water guns alike. The top half is dark blue and shiny enough to look like glass. The plastic is transparent but the color adds opacity, almost like a wine bottle. There's not really anything to see underneath the plastic, other than a blue glow reflecting off the shiny metal components. The lower half is duller, matte and textured for better grip. I don't usually like this juxtaposition of color and texture, but the design is unified by the buttons and joysticks being the same color as the bottom half. Finally, the pleasant copper-gold color of the print ensures good readability against a blue background. Its economical use, in my opinion, makes it a small but important detail that completes the picture. The color design feels a bit complex and it's a nice change of pace from the extremes of simple/practical/boring and flashy bright colors for color's sake. However, there are a few flaws in the looks of this controller. The natural hand grease residues are particularly effective on the glossy surface. I could get a non-scratch cloth to wipe the controller from time to time or before guests arrive. Its rich color also makes it difficult to fully appreciate its looks unless you're in reasonably bright conditions, but that's a small point. I am very happy with my purchase and can't wait to use it on PS4. /PC games for a long time!
