Review on CTA Digital PAD HGT Heavy Duty Gooseneck by Scott Carlile

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not suitable for thick tables

Gooseneck withstands the surface Professional with lid. And really don't want to hold it when you're trying to adjust it so that the swan neck curve is closer to the ground and most of the neck is horizontal and straight. It is better if the bend is higher and protrudes less horizontally. The base piece that attaches to the table was clearly designed to connect to a round surface (pipe), primarily with the ability to clamp onto a flat surface (table), a poorly designed afterthought. When you tighten the clamp on the table, the top of the floor tilts inward and the gap does not shrink. This means that only the tiny tip of the underside of the clip touches the underside of the table and it slides off the table very easily no matter how hard you turn the knob. Cut some foam or rubber and place them above and below the table. It also seems to hold up better with a really thin countertop as the gap becomes less wedge shaped the tighter the clamp is closed. There are two other problems with the base part. Firstly, the maximum thickness of the table can only be about 2.5cm. Second, the crank arm doesn't fold, so tightening the clamp will likely have a nearly 4-inch crank in the way. Mine hangs straight down when the clamp is tightened and hits the chair every time I move a little. I would go again but this is my third attempt to find a stand that works for the surface pro and I'm tired of looking for it.

Cons
