Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Precision with Hi Contrast Aluminum Framing Tools 1794447 by Issac Smart

Decent quality, if not quite square

I bought a more expensive square hoping it would be square, but it isn't. The angle was sharp about 0.04 inch (just under 3/64 inch) the length of a 24 inch foot and probably good enough for most carpentry work. This was tested by lining up the short leg with the straight edge and marking a line along the long edge, then flipping the square and repeating. This method duplicates each error and makes it easier to spot. The square is made of aluminium, so it is not only light, but also easy to attach. There might be a video on this, but if you need to open a corner, you're basically taking a shot down the center near the top of the inside corner. Some people hit multiple punches down the middle. I do one on each side roughly on top of each other and just increase their depth until the angle is good. Now the error is invisible. Aluminum tends to move over time when loaded, so I'll check again a week after weaning and adjust accordingly until the square stabilizes. FYI, dropping a square should immediately question its accuracy. Raised with an old American steel square that never lost its accuracy. I wish we could do things as well as we did 100 years ago. All markings are embossed on the metal and are easy to read. If you're willing to massage it in a bit, you can end up with a decent square.
