Got this to check my coins for mistakes or double hits that could make them more valuable. You can use a handheld magnifier but it will bring the images much closer and you can see. With this microscope you can take photos and videos of what you are looking at. It will get a very close picture of what you put underneath. I've also used it to look at a few other random things just for fun. The focus works very well. You can see in my photos how well it magnifies pennies and dimes. It works great, it's very easy to set up, just download the software and you're good to go. I've used it on both my desktop and my phone, which is handy so you can take it anywhere. It comes with a lens cap to keep dust away from the lens. I can definitely recommend this microscope.
