I love my new microwave. It replaces the Sharp which I have used for 22 years now. I got very frustrated trying to remove the protective plastic film from the stainless steel side and top plates. In the beginning it was extremely difficult to get started, finding an edge to start from by using a razor blade to lift it up a bit. The delamination was difficult to peel off and I never got it off the rear and bottom flange. The worst was around the ventilation area on the side. The plastic didn't come loose between and around these vents unless you poked in with your fingertips and used a razor blade again. I didn't want to damage the finish of the case so the complicated process took over an hour. I can't believe Sharp expected to put their customer through such an ordeal. The engineers or quality specialists must never have attempted to remove the plastic they designed for the device. My guess is that the purpose of the foil was to protect the stainless steel surface from scratches etc, but increased the likelihood of damage when attempting to remove it. I want you to draw attention to this issue. For people who complain that the control panel is hard to see without a backlight, this isn't a problem at all unless you're cooking in total darkness.
