Review on Syncra Multi Purpose Designed Freshwater Saltwater by Megan Evans

I installed a new 18 gallon cube in January 2020. I've been keeping aquariums on and off since 1982 and have had up to 12 tanks at a time; I have kept fresh, brackish, salt and reef aquariums. This aquarium dominates a room in my guest house where I've spent many hours reading over the past year. To be honest, once installed, this pump never impressed me. Quiet from day one and it got louder. My pump was serviced every 3 months. 2) with 12" head the performance was "average" at best. 3) It is necessary to "shield" from slugs as the inlet holes are quite open. A slug tube can climb in and commit suicide quite easily, by blocking the impeller. On a positive note the pump has never "failed" and added little to no heat to my aquarium. If they didn't market it as "Silent" I would be giving it away. Three stars because most aquarium equipment these days is made by scrap manufacturers - 1 star because I was bugging myself in my quiet library.
