Don't see the hype

First off, let me say that I love gadgets, be it tech, kitchen or even knitting. If it's a popular article, I'm usually a follower. Yes, I'm a fan too. I was looking for good wooden needles to invest in a spare set and decided to try Lykke for a scarf I knit in Urth wool yarn. At least they seem to be well received. Contrary to her name, I don't find her a happy knitting experience. For a wooden needle, they're really slippery with wool. I have a hard time keeping the tension on my finger yarn, although that wasn't a problem with the wood threads I had to start with. Also, the yarn keeps slipping around my stitch marker (yo to the stitch marker) due to tension issues. This happens all the time. Although I'd rather knit my current project on a wooden needle, I switched to one of my charcoal needles and have found that my tension is back to normal and my yarn overs no longer slip off the stitch marker. I really like this needle but I don't see the hype. They knit like a metal needle but I prefer my Addis, ChiaGoos and Karbonz. They definitely don't compare to the olive wood addi needles I've used.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
