Update: I've been running this thing 9 hours a day for the last month (12/13/19 today) and it's still working great. An additional suggestion is to put some kind of marker so you can tell if the top is locked or not. I used a blu-tack to make it bigger by connecting it to a travel mug and also used a marker to mark the lock and unlock points. My office is very dry - it's an old building and the water is hot, so there is no humidifier in the HVAC system. I measured the humidity and it's usually around 20-21% RH. I use it on my desk to keep my immediate surroundings bearable. With both ultrasonic jets on, the water tank will last about 2 hours before empty, but it can take the relative humidity up to 30%. With 1 jet I can climb 20% and it takes almost 4 hours. One thing I would really recommend is a broader base. It's narrow base and that makes this humidifier slightly wobbly and also reduces water volume. The humidifier is silent, and since it's rechargeable, I can get it as close to me as I want. Even if the fog hits your face, that's no problem - I wear glasses and the fog is so fine that it doesn't leave a mark. Note, however, that anything in the direct path of the fog will eventually get wet. There's also a pretty cool but probably useless lighting feature - double-click to turn on the mood light. The ultrasonic jet from above didn't work at first, but I've experimented with using a fibrous "straw" to soak up water and flip the humidifier upside down once or twice. Since then it has worked flawlessly.
