I have little experience with tinting car windows. I was tutored by a pro and built about a dozen cars. Then I changed jobs and didn't fix anything for about 2 years. I needed to tint a window in my house so I decided to just grab some and give it a try. This shade works very well. One star deducted for several reasons. First I ordered 5% and it says so on the box but it doesn't seem to be 5%. I've attached a picture with the windows side by side and let me just say that the hue in the photo appears darker than it really is. Even if you're not trying to completely darken the window, I would suggest getting 0%. This 5% is not so dark at the window of the house. Second, there were some very bad creases on the end of my roll right out of the box. In general everything was good. It's not that high quality or that struck me. And I didn't have to shrink it at all because of the flat surface, so I won't comment on how well it works. A few quick tips / rough example of usage. 1) WET WET WET. No part of this procedure should be too wet. Spray Bejesus on anything and everything, especially the sticky side when peeling off the liner. Save this ULTRA wet glue until the last pass with a hard card. 2) Prepared Begin by cleaning the window as usual. Then clean it again with a razor blade. every inch. Then wipe again with a lint-free cloth. 3) Start by aligning the factory edge with the edge of your window. Once you have everything straight, carefully lift the film and slide it 1/4" out from the window edge, then trim the other side of the window flush with the window edge. This extra 1/4" width/ Slack allows the window seal to be tucked in for a perfect finish without allowing light to show through. 4) The process basically consists of figuring out which page is the liner page. Attach the side without film to the window and make rough cuts/measurements. Take it off, remove the liner about 1/2, spray on the adhesive side and all of the glass and attach the liner side (now the adhesive side) to the window. Install it slowly, pulling the trim more and more as you work on the window. Spray and customize what you need. Fold in the edges, then go over them with a hard card. 5) If you are tinting a curved surface, you may need to use a heat gun to shrink the film. Remember that the film only shrinks from the factory edge. So keep that in mind when cutting.
