Review on Digital Wireless Hydrometer Thermometer Smartphone Kitchen & Dining by Lori Kramer

Where has all my brewing life been?

This thing is SUPER cool! First of all, I would like to say that the slope may differ slightly from the real one (by 1 or 2 up or down), but that doesn't bother me. The REAL benefit of this thing is knowing when your fermentation is complete! You can recognize this by the "flat line" effect that you get at the end of the fermentation (see picture). This way I know exactly when it will be ready. To those who are worried about connecting to a device, I say: don't worry! An old cell phone was connected to it. I took the phone home from the garage and received updates when I was 30 feet away. That might not sound like much, but considering Tilt was in a plastic fermenter in the fermenter of my freezer, that's a huge distance. I know it's expensive compared to a traditional hydrometer. But think about it. No more wasting beer on rehearsals. No more oxygen ingress or the possibility of contamination during sampling. All you have to do is let it ferment and then, after transferring it to a bottling bucket or keg, remove the tilt from the fermenter. It's that easy! You have to clean and disinfect it before the next batch, but that's easy. You will not be disappointed.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Big and bulky
