Balls work fine. The game was a lot of fun when we usually had to pause for the night because of the sunset. Was surprised how well it worked while being able to see the dust. Don't be afraid to take them out too soon. I think I lost about 10-15 yards on the hit, but that could have been because I hit the ball in the dark. A couple of times the ball light went out before we got to the ball, but we found that if the ball light didn't go out between long shots, we replaced it with a new one. I don't think the time resets after each hit, only from the original hit that turned on the light. We also found it helpful to bring a small flashlight to lower into the hole to see the hole.
