Review on ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ Quartex Q-80 Quartz Clock Movement with 11/16" Hand Shaft Length, Suitable for Dial Thickness up to 1/4 Inch by Kevin Barbon

Install an old Skillcraft clock and it works again

I received this part to replace an almost identical part in a 1990's Skillcraft clock (Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind), you know, standard government type 12" white dial with black numbers. The movement in this watch eventually broke after all these years, and the case back was inscribed "Quartex," so I figured it might hurt to try that. There are a few minor differences, the most notable of which is that the hands of what I replaced hardly fit this model due to small differences in the diameters of the holes in the hands.I could not use the hands that came with this item as they were too were short for a watch. Also this model has a used threaded hand while the one I had has a split tube on the back of the hand, there s fits over the seconds pin. It was a little awkward to retrofit as I didn't want to break the tiny split tube design.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Damaged
