Handy easy-to-use boost converter

I needed a boost converter to convert 5V USB to around 7.0-8.0V at 500mA. A NOTICE. They come configured from the factory to supply approximately 22V with a 5V input. If your target device is sensitive to higher voltages, be sure to customize them for your target application prior to use. I'm using an FZ35 DC electronic load to set the load and you can see the results in the photos: 7.61V with no load (0.5A blinking in the middle so you don't see the FZ35 load is off) 5.1V @ 10mA input @ 7.61V/open circuit output 7.28V @ 500mA @ 5.1V load @ 840mA input @ 7.28V/500mA output This gives an efficiency of approx. 85%. Load for about 15 minutes, the temperature rise in a typical switching IC was about 15C, so the heatsink seems adequate for the 25C rating I'm aiming for, especially as my target load is intermittent. An additional heatsink can be easily added by attaching a heatsink to the DC/DC converter body if required. With a load of 7.28V/500mA I measured the output ripple of 0.34Vp-p. This is with the included 100uF output capacitor. I didn't add more capacity to reduce this. I haven't done a radiated interference scan to check for interference, so I can't comment on whether it causes interference. Plate dimensions: LxWxH = 43 mm x 21 mm x 12 mm. The holes in the pads are easy for 22AWG wire. Square pads can also be used for surface mounting. The board also has two mounting holes with a diameter of 3mm. You can use plastic screws or plastic washers as the large head may touch the IN+ or OUT- terminal. M2.5 screws with a head diameter of 4.5 mm are suitable for these two attachment points. The gap at the bottom of the embankment seems to confirm these properties of the propellers. These pins protrude about 0.5mm above the PCB surface. Keep that in mind when sticking it on a metal case. A piece of VHB or foam tape should provide enough space to isolate these pins from the metal case. I hope this helps anyone who is thinking about using them. For my application they are perfect.
