I had a laptop in a corner/table in the kitchen where my kids did their homework and my wife surfed the internet. For some reason there was an unreliable WiFi connection in the corner of the room. When plugged in, the speed was normal, but kept dropping. I looked at several options, settled on the powerline adapter and settled on this model based on the price and features. I just plugged it in. The router is on the second floor and opposite the outlet next to the laptop. I'm getting 284.72 Mbps / 12.06 Mbps on a desktop connected to the router (I'm paying for 250 Mbps so no complaints). With the laptop powerline adapter I get 106.84Mbps/11.94Mbps. I think this is more than acceptable for most tasks and worth the speed reduction for a stable connection. I highly recommend trying them out if you've had the same issues as me.
