These Rhino Rack rod holders are perfect for safely transporting your rod and reel. High quality workmanship, easily attaches to existing roof rack crossbars with the included hex key and security locks! Just don't over tighten, some reviews said they broke the plastic mounting tabs and the blocks were weak. Follow the instructions. Mine has hauled rods/reels from the ocean to the mountains throughout the New England region with no problem. Follow the installation instructions. Rhino Rack takes them in for a reason! I usually carry 3 carats with me. x 11" surf rods with Penn Battle II 8000 or 5ct reels. x 6'-7' spinning/regular rod/reel. Even the big reels won't hit the roof as long as the reel handles on my 08ft Jeep Commander with the original -Roof bars are in the up position. Isn't that the same with low profile roof bars? Very secure locking mechanisms and once you place the spool and guide between the brackets the bars cannot be removed unless you break something. They don't even slip or move.again very safe
