The volume buttons only work with ONE dedicated speaker that the remote is connected to. So yes, if you have GROUPED multiple Sonos devices, the volume of the group will not change, only one speaker per group. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE design. Hi! I worked with Lutron on it, filed the case and sent some letters back and forth. It turns out to be AS DESIGNED. While play/pause works with all grouped speakers, volume up/down does not. In my opinion, this is the most pointless design in the history of electronics. I have 6 Sonos speakers, I will not buy 6 remotes. My solution is to return the hub and the two remotes I bought (to control the groups up/down). I may return if/when they resolve this issue.
