Calm! Economical and environmentally friendly. Adding flavor is easy when you're into it. Highly recommended!

I bought 2 packs of six, one just for drying, the other for essential oil (I chose orange). Before that, my wife bought some plastic drying balls. They came in a pack of two, were very noisy in the dryer and being very light made them virtually unusable. We stopped using them after 2 dryer loads as we didn't see any benefit other than the noise. We've been using them for a few weeks now and are very happy with the results. We use all six balls for large loads and just four for medium loads (both our washer and dryer are designed for larger than normal loads). Here's what we learned: 1. Our dryer loads are ready in less time (estimated to be about 10% faster). Over time, this translates into energy savings (ours is $0.14/kWh) that far outweigh the cost of the balloons.2. Things like cotton shirts wrinkle so much less that they can be worn without ironing (I iron them anyway because I have a bit of an OCD about that). The wool balls in the dryer are very quiet and almost invisible, especially compared to the very noisy plastic fabric softener balls we used.4. With just a few drops of the essential oil of your choice, the entire load will be infused with the light scent of that oil. A NOTICE. I recommend using two different sets of balls of yarn if you decide to use scent and keep the sets separate. Once the balls of yarn have been scented, they do not get rid of that smell easily or quickly. Use one for unscented laundry (outerwear?) and one for scented laundry (underwear?). Enjoy the guilt-free softening properties and the same pleasures but with a scent. Highly recommended!
