Review on Penn-Plax Cascade Canister Filter - Ideal for Large Aquariums & Fish Tanks Ranging from 30 to 200 Gallons by Brian Benford

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable service for 8+ months

Great value for money, unlike the HOB filter it doesn't stick out at the back and takes up little space inside and outside the tank so I can easily hide it! The supply/return pipes are black and go well with the black painted tank. EXCELLENT WATER FLOW - Lots of gallons per minute, easy to fill and adjust flow speed and direction. It uses a single magnetically driven propeller that can be easily removed and cleaned. The hoses are color coded for easy correct connection. Some cons: - The canister has no switch - you have to unplug it or use an extension cord. seems like a lot, but a third biofilter basket would be much better. Next time I'll probably take 1000 to get this, although I don't think this filter will die on me any time soon! about $10 - I tried using my old Marineland filter rolls and they just didn't work that well, other than being difficult to cut and put in baskets. The price is $100 (at least it was in October 2021).
