I bought it in the summer but only yesterday I had to replace the discs. Worked as described, my son was able to start the system and play games right after the repair. There was no foam in the kit like in the photo. I removed the foam strips from the original unit and reinstalled this drive after replacing the circuit board inside to ensure the drive stays in place after installation. As for the circuit board, it's a simple process. Avoid using cheap solder from your local hardware store. The Xbox uses lead-free solder and has a high melting point. You need to make sure your iron is heated to 240 degrees Celsius for the solder to flow properly. Use tweezers to grab the wires when reconnecting, they are very thin and easily damaged.
