Review on Schott Zwiesel Stemware Collection 23 4 Ounce by Brian Samaiyar

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Significantly heavier than other Schott-Zwiesel glasses

These glasses look great, don't get me wrong. But they handle poorly (for lack of a better word), they're much bulkier and heavier than the "Tritans" I've used before. I'm not sure what's going on here. The leg is thicker, with a seam on the sides, the glass of the bowl is heavier, the rim has a rounded edge, not a flat one. The glass is thicker at the lip, making the glass feel uncomfortable. The Riedel Vinums that I replaced with these Tritans were much more balanced and a bit more stylish - they feel cheap - and they don't come cheap. I was already expecting these glasses to be large and uncomfortable to wash in the dishwasher, but for those who don't know, Bordeaux glasses are very tall and Burgundy glasses are very wide. It was what I wanted but damn they are heavy and feel cheap.

Pros
  • Made in Germany; Suggested wine types: Pinot Noir, Burgundy, Sangiovese, Chianti, Lambrusco, Boehalui, Brunello, Chardonnay, Viognier
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
