Review on Orange Men's Vibram Ascent Insulated M Sneaker Shoes - Enhanced SEO by Ben Rodriguez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm usually quite comfortable in a size 42, but I got down to size.

First of all, as other reviews have mentioned, please order this at least 1-2 sizes larger than your usual VFF size. I'm usually quite comfortable in a size 42, but based on other reviews I chose a size 44 and I'm very glad I did. The extra insulation that makes this shoe great also makes it pretty snug if you go in your normal size. It's not on the way, wow. This is my 14th pair of VFFs and they are light tanks in this group. I wanted something I can wear in colder weather. I have a pair of full leather Speed LRs from REI and they are my usual cold weather outfit with good socks, but when the temperature drops below 40 degrees the boots have to be removed. Since they were exclusive to REI and are no longer available, I try not to wear them that often. The other cold weather VFF I have is the original Flow model. These are basically just neoprene KSOs, extremely constricting and while they have the same insulation factor as a wetsuit I definitely wouldn't call them warm. More like turning your foot into a sweaty hot box. The Trek Ascent Insulated solves all of these problems while being durable and plush. The grip pattern on the leg is absolutely ridiculous. I feel like I can walk on a block of ice in these things and hold on to them. The toes are also insulated so I feel like I can handle well below freezing temperatures with some socks. Waterproofing is another issue, but if there's something wet on the ground I fall back on my boots. Overall I really like them and if you want a pair of VFFs for all climates they will definitely make a worthy addition to your arsenal. Just be sure to buy a few sizes up, especially if you plan on wearing socks.
