Major hardware stores sell thick stranded cord, but if you buy 2 or 4 gauge you'll see a core of 10-20 strands of thick continuous cord - very difficult to shape and pull, especially in tight spaces. After spending some money on it (although my generator was running so I think it was worth it) I spent some money to buy this thing. I'm so glad I did. I reworked my alternator, grounding and starter wiring including running the starter through the car deep in the engine bay. Suspended dual battery, solar panel, inverter installation (inverter goes through firewall to truck bed). The flexibility of this cable allowed for a complex and tight-fitting design.
