My 10 year old mixer valve started leaking badly after a few cold days so I looked around for the cheapest option with the highest user ratings. Turn off the water in the house and leave another faucet open somewhere else. Cover the drain to prevent parts from falling. The hardest part is preparing and removing the old hardened coating to get to the valve assembly. I used a baking powder based mix. I followed the instructions on yt's video and took some photos to fix the situation. The new valve came with lube and extra seals so I cleaned the old valve assembly, replaced the rubber rings and now I have a spare for another shower. It has been about 2 weeks without a drip and the temperature is the same as the original.
