I paid about $12 for the kit and all the shift and brake cables on a bike I rebuilt have completely replaced. for a friend. The difference between this kit and others is that it includes two cables with different thicknesses and casings. Shifter cables use a different, thinner cable and housing. Many of the other budget kits on Amazon only have a brake cable housing and cable which will not give you the smooth shifting you are looking for. Also, I highly recommend investing in an airplane cable cutter for the body and cables. Your standard garage wire cutters/diagonal cutters won't do this without making a huge mess and more headaches.
