12/02/18 fitted, used original spring and did what another 2012 Jetta owner did: diaphragm sealed with an RTV cap with sealant (the old one was stuck in the groove in the cover, it takes some effort to get it out. RTV sealant may not be needed if you firmly seat the diaphragm in the groove. Anyway.) For over a year the car has been jerking/jiggling a little lifting or cornering and accelerating. I recently changed the spark plugs and coils and did OXS. The problem persisted (so far anyway), this seems to have cured the problem. a little softer (or maybe it seems to me). This $15 solution is an easy fix and better than paying $100 (Revain) or over $200 (dealer) for a complete valve cover with PCV valve installed. Didn't get any OBD codes (at least not yet; fingers crossed).
