I installed it directly on the center console and like to have 120V on hand. I tested it under load at 450 watts continuously for an hour and it was hot, but not as hot as I thought it would be. My typical usage is closer to 200W and it does a great job with that. While not a true sine wave inverter, it charges/runs things that other inverters don't. Even with the only airflow coming from the built-in fan it doesn't get too hot, with a USB fan it keeps the ambient temperature. My only complaint is that the manual mentions hardware and a bolt-on device for grounding, but no simple grounding point or hardware for doing so.
