Premium folding shock absorbing scooter for big kids and adults

After many hours of research and comparison I bought a SKIDEE X3M folding scooter with 8 inch wheels and bumper guards as a 10th birthday gift for my big son. . It fits him at both the lowest and second lowest (of 4) handlebar height settings. The folding scooter has excellent grip on the handlebars, is well built and folds and unfolds very well. We have uneven (tarmac) sidewalks in our area, so shock absorbers are a top priority. It's important to know that the scooter lowers when you first step onto it, so it takes some getting used to (especially if you've ridden a scooter without shock absorbers). However, when you are on the deck, it remains compressed and stable. Speaking of the deck, this scooter has a nice big one, 13 1/2 inches long and 5 3/8 inches wide. This is taller than most and allows the rider to stand comfortably with both feet next to each other when coasting. Also the handlebar height adjustment range is excellent so people can grow into this scooter (I'm 6ft and it suits me). The stand works well too. SKIDEE also has great handlebars, a handlebar grip and a folding strap attachment system. After adjusting each of these clamps with the included tool (which makes them pretty tight), there's no rattling. This stability is worth the slight extra weight. I recommend tightening all fasteners before your first ride and checking them regularly to make sure they aren't loose. The brakes also seem to be complex. It's on the longer side that covers the wheel better. It also includes a reflector. The scooter comes with a carry strap and has built in loops for attaching this strap (rather than adding separate strap holders). SKIDEE offers a free scooter tote bag (offer info in the box) if you send them a social media photo of someone riding a scooter. The only potential downside to the scooter design is the narrow handlebars, 15 1/2 inches (many competitors have 17 inches). This reduces the rider's effort to turn the scooter, but is not a critical factor. Overall, the processing makes a very good impression. The edges of some metal parts could have been polished a bit, but this isn't a top-of-the-line bike, so I wasn't expecting perfection. The reason I gave this scooter 4 stars (instead of 5) is because the black paintwork has a few scratches that shouldn't be there. The packaging seems to prevent this, but the scooter is scratched somewhere. It will be easy enough to tweak, but it should have been intact out of the box. All in all, I recommend the SKIDEE Folding Scooter with 8" wheels and shockproof suspension. It offers the best balance of quality, customizability, features, and sizes for our needs that I could find. Finally, their website is the most helpful of any manufacturer and features direct links to purchase parts when the time comes.
