Review on πŸƒ Garmin Forerunner 245 Music GPS Running Smartwatch with Music and Advanced Dynamics - Aqua by Andrew Spainhour

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very convenient. good for GPS, viewfinder and accessories

Much more comfortable than my old Vivoactive HR which died last summer after too many sea jumps. Forerunner 245 Music tracks my activity when I remember to start and stop it on my watch. It would be great if activities such as a treadmill, elliptical trainer, indoor bike, indoor row, push-ups, etc. were automatically recognized. The good thing is that I usually memorize part of the session so I can start it mid-session and then come back to it. App to check time, distance etc. It's a bit expensive for what you get. I wanted a Vivoactive 3 Music but didn't like that the V3 had the bezel removed and the front glass raised, so I leaned towards the FR245M as soon as I saw it being announced. V3M, FR245M should include all the features of the latter and more! I was very disappointed that it didn't come with an altimeter and Garmin Pay. A game of golf would be nice too, but I'm not upset about that. The lack of an altimeter and Garmin Pay almost made me buy the FR645M, but I couldn't justify the extra $100 for a watch that lacks some of the FR245M's new features. Copying music to the FR245M using Garmin Express was a PIA. because most of my music is copied from my CD collection as .wma files. Music I downloaded in MP3 format streamed smoothly, but Garmin Express didn't rip WMA. Luckily, I found I could drag and drop WMA onto my FR245Ms using Windows Media Player. I'm VERY glad I paid the extra $50 for the music version of this watch. I didn't think it would make such a big difference, but it's so nice to practice listening to music without having the phone in your pocket. I am still very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I'll be silent
