While this item appears to be well made, it has a couple of fatal flaws that only make it useful in a single instance. This is a metric tape measure. I bought this on purpose because I am converting to metric for my woodworking hobby. I chose it because it's metric on both sides, black and red ink on white and flat. I find this arrangement makes accuracy a bit easier. However, this measure is completely useless for the installation of machine protection devices for router tables, circular table saws and the like. This is because the end of the hook is fixed and doesn't move in and out like regular tape. This means that it can only perform "external measurements" accurately. I checked out the video on the Fast Cover website and realized they did it on purpose. Also, the case is marked 2.5 inches, which is 63.5mm, so the inside and outside dimensions aren't exact unless you're happy to work with half a mm. The transition to a metric is to simplify the task. The length of the strap is also marked as 16 feet. That's 4876.8mm. It just seems like the quick cap tried to convert the imperial instrument to the metric system. In my opinion this is a design flaw.
