Why doesn't every thermometer have an easily adjustable display for the target temperature? So you don't have to squint for long when the oven or grill door is open. UPDATE: There is a serious design flaw. When you turn the handle, for example while cleaning or just when handling, the indicator needle moves with the temperature scale. This may make the thermometer very inaccurate. To reset it, place the stem in boiling water and turn the stem/dial to read 212F. There is no lock nut to keep it in the correct position. For this reason, other, safer dial thermometers have a lock nut.
