My grandson makes me birthday cards and likes to draw on the ones his mother gave me so I have you can get him one of the "Create your own books" here at amazon.com. It has 30 pages (60 from start to finish) with space for text and space for images. It seemed that these pens would be of great help in "writing/drawing" in his own book. He is very fond of them and he was happy to draw me a new picture to bring home for the fridge! There are 12 colored pencils in a tin can. I especially like the box to keep his pens in when not in use. They were easy to sharpen. The colors aren't quite what you'd expect from red and brown, but he uses them for what they are. As I pointed out in another review, as schools slash art and music budgets, it's important for a child to have items like these pencils and make their own book to develop an interest in art. I love these pens and so does he! He carefully packed them in a box for next use. The tin can is also really practical here. This set is a keeper.
